Internacional won 2-1 against Corinthians in Beira-Rio in a tough clash to avoid relegation in the Brasileirão. The result pushed Corinthians into a more precarious position — they have lost seven straight in the league and are just above the relegation zone — while Inter remain in the bottom four but have closed the gap to just one point. The match had barely started when the Porto Alegre team scored. In just 45 seconds, Vitinho opened the scoring after a neat assist from Alan Patrick. The home team's momentum rolled from there: their pressure was tight and they often found space in the final third, causing them to threaten the second goal they tried several times. However, Corinthians gradually came back into the match towards the end of the first half. They unleashed attacks from the flanks and through the middle, and twice found their side reeling when they hit the post in quick succession — Matheuzinho first and then Yuri Alberto — a sign of a slight boost in confidence before the break.

In the second half, the visitor's pursuit was more pressing and the threat continued. Corinthians even had a great chance from six yards out after Yuri Alberto's quality pass, but their push still didn't equal a goal. Inter were more clinical in responding. Colorado took advantage of a mistake in building play from the back of Corinthians, and Alan Patrick finished himself to make the score 2-0. The visitors quickly gave hope when André scored in the 80th minute, making the final ten minutes tense as Corinthians searched for a home tie. In the end, Internacional held on for three points — crucial in their battle for survival — while Corinthians' crisis in form and results deepened. This match was marked by Inter's efficient attack and the three times the post blocked Corinthians' attempts. For now, Internacional remain in the bottom four, but they have closed the gap on their opponents to just one point. Corinthians, although still above the line, are clearly on the brink and need to end their losing streak immediately if they don't want to fall into the relegation zone in the coming weeks. In the tight Brasileirão, every point is gold — and Beira-Rio showed how an early goal and a clinical second-half strike can seal the fortunes of the bottom of the table.

What's next

In the next matches, Corinthians need to bounce back from their defeat and find a way to get the necessary points to avoid relegation. Their next matches will be critical to their season outlook, and every point counts. Meanwhile, Internacional will continue to try to climb out of the bottom four, hoping to maintain the momentum from their win.
