Pere Romeu's comments show respect for AS Roma, known for their ability to make Champions League clubs suffer. A victory in Roma is important not only for points but also for their reputation in European football.

Why it matters

Barcelona's match against AS Roma is an important step in their Champions League campaign. After their enthralling win over Paris FC, the next test in Roma will highlight their ability to keep up with tough European opponents. Victory in this game will help their season outlook and their pursuit of success in the Champions League.

Key Points

• Pere Romeu: "Roma are tough — these are the Champions".
• Barcelona, who opened the Champions League with a win against Paris FC (5-2), will now face AS Roma who will test their unity and consistency.
• Pere Romeu: "La Roma es un equipo duro, esto es la Champions".

After starting the Champions League with an emphatic 5-2 win over Paris FC, Barcelona will once again venture onto the European stage — this time in Rome. This is the team's second consecutive visit to the Italian capital in two seasons, and it is clear that they will not reduce the level of preparation. In the preview of the game, Pere Romeu gave a direct warning: "This is the Champions and it is never easy to play away from home. Roma is a tough, complex team. We expect to put out a good version." Romeu's statement shows respect for AS Roma's ability and Barcelona's desire to remain serious in the pursuit of success in this group. A 5-2 victory over Paris FC provided a positive start for Barcelona — a confidence-boosting result but one that shouldn't bring too much confidence. In the Champions League, especially when the team is away from their own stadium, the game can change quickly. Roma, as Romeu reminded, are known for their physicality and organized defending which can make it difficult for Barcelona's attempts to dominate the ball and open up space.

For Barcelona, the challenge in Roma is not only about scoring but maintaining the quality of the game in different situations — from the opponent's pressure to adjusting the defense to counter-attacks. Taking this type of fight seriously determines whether a team will last in this competition. As the team travels to Italy, it's clear that the focus is on preparation: the right tactics, discipline at the back, and the ability to convert chances. The repeat visit to Rome puts extra pressure on Barcelona to show that their opening win was not just an isolated event but part of a series of consistent performances in the Champions League. Watch the match as one of the key tests in the group — not just for points but to gauge Barcelona's true level on the continental stage. As Pere Romeu reminds, the Champions League is no place for the comfortable; it takes the serious version of the team to succeed.

What's next

The match in Rome is expected to be tight, where Barcelona must be prepared for the opponent's physical play and strong defense. Barcelona's performance in this game could set the tone for their remaining Champions League matches. If they get a good result, it will give them extra confidence and momentum in their tournament campaign.
