Premier League: De Zerbi still not clicking

According to Sports.

Context

Tottenham Hotspur are currently facing challenges in their second season under Roberto De Zerbi. Their ability to bounce back from poor results, such as the match against Everton, will be key to their progress in the Premier League. Supporters hope to see a better performance in the next matches.

Why it matters

The 0-0 result against Everton has raised new concerns for Tottenham, especially over their ability to create attacking opportunities. In Roberto De Zerbi's second season, supporters were hoping for better progress, but a continued lack of goal creation is putting pressure on the team. A misunderstanding of tactics and communication within the pitch is hindering their progress in Premier League football.

Key Points

• Premier League: De Zerbi still not clicking.
• Tottenham unable to find rhythm in Roberto De Zerbi's second season—0-0 against Everton on Matchday 4 opens new concerns over attack and team structure.
• Premier League: still not clicking for De Zerbi and Spurs.

A worrying focus on Tottenham resurfaced after a dull 0-0 result against Everton on Saturday night, part of Matchday 4 of the Premier League. This tie opens deeper questions about the team's progress in Roberto De Zerbi's second season as coach. From the opening months of the campaign, many supporters and analysts expected Spurs to continue their positive run under De Zerbi's leadership style — particularly in terms of creating chances and keeping up with the best in the league. But a string of poor finishing matches, most recently a 0-0 draw against Everton, shows that the team's mechanics are still not clicking. In this match, the lack of clear resolution in the latter part of the attack was noticeable. Although De Zerbi encourages pressure and build-up from the back, an effective combination up front that would open up goals has yet to follow. The result: a drab draw that didn't help the team's confidence and intensified the pressure for the next matches. Fans aren't worried that the situation will suddenly change—football is a game of process and time—but Spurs clearly need a clearer plan of attack and consistency in tactical execution. The coaching staff and players have a huge responsibility to regulate communication and behavior on the pitch to create more quality chances. For Everton, a point from Tottenham was proof of their ability to stand up well in defense and control the tempo—a result that could provide enough motivation for their next matches. For Spurs, the 0-0 serves as a warning: if the trend doesn't change, they could suffer more dropped points against mid-table and lower-table teams. In the coming weeks, many pundits expect De Zerbi and his coaching staff to experiment and adjust in order to bring back the aggressive and effective attack expected at Tottenham. Until these league moves come to fruition, it remains to be seen whether De Zerbi's second season will be a success or another difficult campaign for Spurs.

What's next

In the next matches, it will be important for Tottenham to find the right balance in their attack and defense. The coaching staff must work on improving their strategy in order to create more opportunities and achieve the necessary points. The season outlook for Spurs depends on their ability to adjust their game and get back on track in the Premier League.
