€11M then not working: Karlsson back to Bologna — loan out again this summer?
After 26 games in Aberdeen and 18 in Utrecht, Jesper Karlsson will return home to Bologna. He has scored 10 goals this season, but is it enough to stay or will another loan spell follow?
Jesper Karlsson's European tour is over — for now. The Swedish winger is confirmed to return to Bologna after a season in which he split time between Scotland and the Netherlands: 26 games in Aberdeen and 18 in Utrecht.
In the first half of the campaign, Karlsson contributed six goals for Aberdeen in the league and Europa Conference League. Moving to Utrecht in the second half of the season, he added four more goals. His production reached double-digits (10 goals total), but it still didn't seem like enough for an immediate stay at his new home.

Despite high expectations, he didn't really hold on to regular minutes and didn't make much of an impact at Emilia, causing him to be considered unworkable for the rossoblù and loaned out to another league.
This summer, management will review his situation: there is still the option of trying to convince the coaching staff in pre-season, but the possibility of another loan if his minutes and confidence are better remains open. At this point, it depends on Bologna's plan and the market where Karlsson is best immersed for a more consistent role.
Watch to see if the former AZ Alkmaar standout will stay with Renato Dall'Ara or if he will once again find a new environment to squeeze the potential expected when he arrived for €11M.
