Demi Akarakiri's agent: "Pogba's style of play is similar"

According to Tuttomercatoweb.

Why it matters

Demi Akarakiri's move to Cagliari is an important step for his career, especially as it comes from the Premier League to Serie A. Having a promising central player who can adapt to different positions will help Cagliari in their league goals. Comparing him to Paul Pogba brings high expectations of his performance in Serie A football.

Key Points

  • Demi Akarakiri's agent: “Pogba's style of play is similar”.
  • Agent Samuele Mura describes new Cagliari signing Demi Akarakiri as a central player who is primarily mezz'ala and compares the style to French legend Paul Pogba.
  • Cagliari, agent Akarakiri: "Lo stile di gioco remembera molto quello di Pogba".
Cagliari highlighted their next central project when agent Samuele Mura confirmed that 2007-born Demi Akarakiri was officially acquired by the club from Everton in recent days, according to an interview with TuttoCagliari. In the same interview, Mura emphasized the rookie midfielder's potential, noting that his client's "style of play is similar to Paul Pogba" — high praise for anyone in the central position. Mura described Akarakiri as a natural central player who plays primarily as a mezz'ala — the type of central midfielder with box-to-box ability, ready to help construct the offense and aggressively close down the defense. The agent added that the youngster is comfortable in various roles in the middle, an indication that he has the ability to adapt to the needs of his new team's system.

For Cagliari, the signing of Akarakiri is the perfect step in the continued accumulation of young talent in Serie A. At a very young age, the move from English football to Italy will open a new stage for his development: intensive tactical training, a lower margin for error, and a high demand to show maturity in a short period of time. In this context, the comparison mentioned with Pogba is not to think that they have reached the same level, but to give an idea of the style: big strides in carrying the ball, tenacity in position, and courage in attacking spaces from the middle. Further details of the deal have yet to be made public, but what is clear is that Akarakiri's camp believes Serie A is the right stage to mold his game. From Everton, known for intensively shaping young players in the academy, he will be moving into an environment with a strong emphasis on tactics and discipline. That's the scene that usually helps mezz'alas develop reading the game, choosing the right moment to step up, and periodically creating a goal or a final pass. For Cagliari supporters, Akarakiri's careful but continuous integration into the club's program is expected. While it is not yet certain how quickly he will be included in the first team, the first message from his agent is clear: the young midfielder has the material — and given time and the right focus, can mold into a modern central midfielder with attacking flair and defensive flair. By now, enough is known that there is a new piece in the Cagliari puzzle, and it is a player whose style — according to his agent — has a touch of Pogba.

With his move to Cagliari, Akarakiri is expected to gradually develop his skills in a stricter environment of Serie A. His development will focus on developing his tactical awareness and maturity in the game, which will be crucial to the challenges of Serie A. Cagliari fans should also expect his contribution in the midfield as he adapts to the team's new system.
