Ancelotti, still positive after Brazil's 1-1 debut against Morocco in the World Cup 2026

After the tie between Brazil and Morocco in their first match of the World Cup 2026 which ended with a score of 1-1, head coach Carlo Ancelotti gave a statement about their performance. According to Ancelotti, it was a difficult start for Brazil because the players felt the tension and lacked balance in the early part of the match, causing them to easily lose the ball and not immediately show a good game.

Despite this, he saw Brazil's game improve in the second half and believes they will continue to improve as the competition goes on. Ancelotti warned, "We cannot expect the team to be perfect from the first match. The World Cup is not won in the first game."

Ancelotti was also asked about his choice of Igor Thiago and not playing Endrick but the coach refused to elaborate on decisions for individual players, insisting the conversation was still about the whole team.

Moreover, he praised Brazil's fighting spirit until the last minute and said this is exactly the direction he wants to continue – a more aggressive and balanced team in the next matches. He also said that the morale of his players was not affected despite the result, because such events are natural in a big tournament and the important thing is that they focus on the next match. Ancelotti added, it is important for them to qualify for the knockout stage before planning another target.

He also explained that he did not take too long to change players, because he made two changes in the 45' minute and two more in the 59'. He said he accepts criticism as long as it is for the whole team and not just focused on individuals. He further revealed that the selection of the line-up is based on their preparation and the condition of the players.

At the end of the interview, he was thankful that there were Italian supporters for Brazil. Ancelotti also opened the possibility of changing the line-up depending on the team they face next.
