Audace Cerignola seems to be ahead of rivals Foggia in the transfer market in Serie C. According to a report by TuttoMercatoWeb, Cerignola is close to acquiring defender Angelo Viscardi, a player born in 2004 who belongs to Benevento. Viscardi is said to be on Foggia's radar, but with the club currently awaiting official confirmation of their re-participation in Serie C, it is highly likely that they will turn to other options to fill the need at the back. Cerignola isn't the only one targeting Viscardi. The club is also moving to secure the arrival of young striker Alessandro Campanile, born in 2005, from Avellino. If that goes ahead, two young Italians from Campania's two traditional clubs — Benevento and Avellino — could potentially add strength to either end of Cerignola: one to solidify the defense and one to add vigor to the attack. For Foggia, also known as “i Satanelli”, the administrative delay in their official return to Serie C has a clear impact on their team building. Uncertainty at the level of competition often slows down negotiations, especially if another club has a clearer plan and immediate offer. In this case, Cerignola seemed to benefit, moving quickly to secure two possible additions to the roster.

If completed, the signing of Viscardi will give Cerignola a young centre-back who can adapt to the rhythm and physicality of Serie C, while Campanile can bring energy and creativity to the final third. Aged 18–20, they are both in the ranks of prospects who can be shaped for the next higher level—a direction typically taken by clubs in Italy's third division to balance competition and talent development. It is important to stress that there has been no final announcement from the clubs involved. However, the report says that Cerignola is "just one step away" from closing talks with Viscardi, while work continues to land Campanile as well. It is expected that in the next hours or days the whole situation will be clarified. In a wider context, the clubs involved are neighbors in southern Italy: Cerignola and Foggia are both from Apulia and have a tradition of regional rivalry, while Benevento and Avellino are both from Campania. If both moves go through, it will send a message that Cerignola are serious about strengthening the squad ahead of the new Serie C campaign—while Foggia will need to quickly find an alternative in defense if Viscardi's departure from their target list continues. Azkals Goal will continue to monitor the next events, including any official statements by the clubs and the exact details of possible agreements.

What's next

As the summer transfer window progresses, negotiations for Viscardi and Alessandro Campanile are expected to progress rapidly. Audace Cerignola seem to be in a good position to land the two young players, who could make a big contribution to their campaign in Serie C. Meanwhile, Foggia will have to look for another option while waiting for their official return to the league.
