Bologna, interest from England (and others) in Castro: will he be 'sacrificed' in the market?

Bologna are starting to plan for the next controversial transfer window as the club aims to make an immediate return to European competitions. After Vincenzo Italiano, Domenico Tedesco comes to the bench and the new coach is expected to ask for additional options in the squad.

But before adding new names, players must first be cut — and among those 'sacrificabile' or possibly released is Santiago Castro. According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, the Premier League has its eyes on Castro, and England aren't the only ones eyeing him.

The intention of Bologna, according to the same report, is to earn a large amount from the transfer. If the offer comes from England, they can expect up to 50 million euros; the value is somewhat lower if the offer comes from Italy itself, where the player also has fans.

There has been no official confirmation from Bologna or the potential buyers about any offer so far. If Castro's departure happens, it will give Bologna room to invest in Tedesco's plan and try to raise the level of the team for next season.
