Context

Samuele Capolupo, born in 2006, has been a product of Monza's youth sector since 2019–2020. His debut in Serie B in December 2025 underlined his potential, and his new contract at Monza until 2029 aims to maintain his development while he plays in Serie C under Spezia.

Why it matters

Samuele Capolupo's move to Spezia was an important step for his development as a young player. By taking him on loan, Spezia gain additional depth in their defence, which is vital to their season outlook in Serie C football. His experience at Monza, which has recently been promoted to Serie A, will surely benefit his new team.

Key Points

• Capolupo extended contract at Monza until 2029, loaned to.
• AC Monza and Spezia agree: Samuele Capolupo (2006) will be loaned to Spezia with a purchase option and counter-option, along with a contract with Monza until 2029.
• Capolupo rinnova con il Monza e scende in Serie C: prestito allo scatenato Spezia.

AC Monza and Spezia Calcio have formally confirmed the deal for Samuele Capolupo: the 17-year-old left-arm defender has extended his contract with Monza until 30 June 2029 and will immediately move to Spezia on loan. According to the two teams' announcement, there is a purchase option attached for Spezia and a right to re-acquire (counter-option) for Monza—a structure often used in Italy to allow the parent club to protect the young player's future while giving him greater minutes in the lower division. This is another strong move from Spezia, who in recent days have become one of the most active teams in the Serie C market, something their sporting director Guido Angelozzi himself indicated. With Capolupo's arrival, the Ligurians add competition and depth on the left flank—a position vital to a system that requires a full-back or wing-back ready to defend and link up in midfield. Capolupo, a native of Monza and born in 2006, has been a product of their youth sector since 2019–2020. In the summer of 2025, he was included in the First Team and made his Serie B debut on 20 December in a match against Carrarese. In Spezia's communication, it was also emphasized that Monza's previous season ended with promotion to Serie A for the team from Lombardy—a sign of the high-level environment he grew up in.

As a left lateral who can line up either in the defensive line or in midfield, Capolupo is expected to help Spezia's pace and range in transitions. For a team aiming to be competitive in Serie C immediately, having a youngster with potential on the left is critical—especially in a long campaign where rotation and specialization on the flank will be a big factor. From Monza's point of view, the extension of the contract before the loan was logical. In this way, the biancorossi are still in control of Capolupo's development path, while the counter-option serves as insurance that they can use the right should his form explode. For Spezia, the purchase option gives the player a chance to lock in if it fits the team's long-term plans. Overall, this agreement corresponds to the objective of both sides: more minutes and promotion for Capolupo at the competitive level of Serie C, and a contractual structure beneficial for both Monza and Spezia. Spezia have now officially appointed the young full-back to bring his energy and versatility to the club's campaign in the coming season.

What's next

Capolupo is expected to be a big part of Spezia's lineup next season, helping their goal of succeeding in Serie C. His move shows Spezia's proactive strategy in building their team, which could bring a positive match impact to their matches. It will also be interesting to observe how he interacts with the other players at Spezia.
