Carter Pinnington, Left Liverpool and Moved to West Brom for Bigger Opportunities

Young defender Carter Pinnington has been confirmed to leave Liverpool for West Brom, in a transfer that could be seen as a major step for his career. Pinnington, 19 and a long-time part of Liverpool's academy, chose West Brom for a greater chance to play at the English Championship's senior level.

According to the report, West Brom have beaten other interested teams, including Premier League clubs who also want to sign Pinnington. He is known as a centre-back whose game is modern: confident on the ball, able to initiate attacks from the back, and has the strength and height of 6-2 to match the physical game of the Championship.

Pinnington has risen through all levels of Liverpool's youth system, since the age of seven, and has shown high quality in Premier League 2 this 2025-26 season, where he has recorded 19 games and averaged 86.5% passing accuracy. Because of this, he was noticed by many scouts and he was also part of the training of Liverpool's senior squad, although the opportunity to play in the first team was limited.

Prior to this transfer, other teams tried to sign Pinnington several times, including Stoke City in the January transfer window, but Liverpool rejected it. But for Pinnington, regular minutes on the field are more important than remaining a reserve at Anfield.
