Catania continue to move in the transfer market and the dream acquisition of Massimo Coda dominates the club's priority list. According to a report by Il Corriere dello Sport, the experienced player — who is currently out of contract — is considered the main target to fill the team's need at the center of attack ahead of the new Serie C campaign. After first focusing on reducing the number of players on the roster, sporting director Fortunato Varrà is said to be ready to test the highest ambitions for the attacking sector. The addition of Coda, known for his stability as a classical scorer and who previously played for Sampdoria, is seen by the management as a way to raise the level of the plantilla and give Emilio Longo a real bomber for the category. No deal has been finalized and it is considered a path that Catania will watch while the details are worked out. Before finally implementing the acquisition, the club states that it is necessary to finish some operations first to make room for the new arrival and to meet the balance in the payroll.

In recent hours, several names have said goodbye to the club: Riccardo Cargnelutti, Mirko Miceli, Giulio Frisenna, Marco Chiarella and Milos Bocic. Giovanni Di Noia is also close to parting ways, according to the same report. This series of departures is part of Varrà's restructuring plan even before the incoming targets are made official. Along with the interest in Coda, Catania is also moving on other fronts. Will allow the arrival of a new goalkeeper from Parma — Filippo Rinaldi — who is currently in the rehabilitation phase. Additionally, the club's interest in Gabriele Pagliai, Ferdinando Del Sole, Marco Perrotta and Matteo Della Morte continues to swirl as possible reinforcements for various parts of the team. This project by Varrà shows the clear intention of Catania not only to cut but to add quality in order to be competitive in Serie C. Supporters will stay tuned to see if the matter with Massimo Coda ends and how the team will take a new shape in the coming weeks. This news is based on a report from Il Corriere dello Sport.

What's next

Before completing the acquisition of Coda, Catania will need to complete some operations back home to make room for his arrival. Sporting director Fortunato Varrà continues to monitor the situation as the team adjusts its roster. At the same time, the arrival of Filippo Rinaldi from Parma is also an important step that is expected to help build a stronger defense.
