Why it matters

Alessandro Debenedetti's arrival at Cesena is an important step in their development of a deeper attack for the upcoming season in Serie B. As a young player with experience in the league, he is expected to help the team's development and strengthen their midfield signings. His ability to be Cristian Shpendi's vice will provide additional depth to their offense.

Key Points

• Cesena does not stop at Fiori: Alessandro is coming.
• After confirming the arrival of Antonio Fiori from Mantova, Cesena will soon announce the signing of Alessandro Debenedetti from Genoa.
• Il Cesena non si ferma a Fiori: in arrivo anche il centravanti Debenedetti dal Genoa.

The exchange of players in Cesena is going to hit the hot side, especially in their attack line. According to the information we gathered, the club is expected to announce this afternoon the arrival of Alessandro Debenedetti, a center-attacker owned by Genoa. This is Cesena's next step after they officially signed Antonio Fiori, an attacking flanker who originated from Mantova. The 2003-born Debenedetti is considered to be Cristian Shpendi's vice at the center of Cesena's attack. The report mentions that the transfer will probably be made in a similar form as the acquisition of Fiori — a loan with a possible additional risca and contra-risca option (prestito con possibile diritto di riscatto e controriscatto). The details of the contract have yet to be officially confirmed, but the news suggests Cesena are planning carefully for the depth of their plantilla in the coming campaign.

For Debenedetti, this is his third experience in Serie B. Even before his move to Virtus Entella last season, he played at Mantova where he was part of the group that earned promotion to Serie C. In the 2024/25 season with Mantova, he scored four goals in 29 appearances; 2025/26 followed at Entella where he finished with three goals in 32 games. This record shows Debenedetti's continuous involvement in the campaign of professional football in Italy and his ability to follow the rhythm of Serie B. Cesena's interest in Debenedetti has been swirling since the opening of the market; in the final hours the talks accelerated and the team was able to close the possible deal. In practical terms, Debenedetti will give the coach the option to occasionally put another player in an opening position or use him as a fresh force from the bench, especially if the team needs a presence on the edge of the box and target-man style play. All in all, Cesena are clearly forging their serious plan for building a deeper and more balanced attacking department: having wide options on the flanks and center will allow for more tactical alternatives in a tight Serie B season. Watch out for Cesena's official announcement this afternoon for confirmation of Alessandro Debenedetti's transfer from Genoa and the specific details of his contract.

What's next

Cesena are expected to announce Debenedetti's official transfer from Genoa soon, which will take him on a loan with an option to buy. His arrival suggests Cesena's more active strategy in the summer transfer window, aiming to get the right players for their Serie B campaign. The next steps could include other signings to further strengthen their squad.
