According to Sports.

Context

Julián Álvarez is a promising forward from Argentina currently playing in the Premier League. His game characteristics suit the style of La Liga football, which focuses on possession and ball control, making him a hot target for Barcelona in the current summer transfer window.

Why it matters

The signing of Julián Álvarez could give Barcelona a big boost in their aim to build a stronger team for the upcoming La Liga season. His ability as a forward and in the midfield matches the club's need for additional strength on offense, especially in the face of salary cap and roster registration challenges in La Liga. The quick finalization of the deal is important to start player development and prepare the team for matches in domestic and continental competitions.

Key Points

• Coach of Barcelona targets to complete the acquisition of the star of the Premier.
• Barcelona are targeting the acquisition of Julián Álvarez, who is considered the main target in the current window.
• Barcelona coach wants to secure the signing of Premier League superstar by August 12.

Barcelona are active in the market and are focused on two main targets this transfer window, according to reports. The name of Julián Álvarez, the Argentine forward who plays in the Premier League and is known for his high work rate, defensive sacrifice, and quality in front of goal, stands out on the list. The Barcelona coach is said to be aiming to have the matter resolved and closed before August 12 — a date critical to their preseason timeline and registration rush for the opening of the new campaign. Although there has been no official announcement from either side, it is clear that Barcelona are pursuing immediate squad formation under their coaching staff before the start of domestic and continental battle. Within La Liga's strict salary cap and player registration framework, it is important for the club to prepare the roster early and hone the offense — especially in the center position where they are expected to need additional firepower behind the age and minute management of their veteran striker. Álvarez, a world champion with Argentina, has proven efficient as either a center or second striker, and is also adept at dropping to help in the build-up — qualities that suit Barcelona's combination-based style and ball control. With the Catalan club wanting to be more direct attacking and more effective in transition, the player's profile is seen to fit the demands of the system. The date mentioned in the report is also strategic: August 12 is on the verge of the start of the season, so any possible transfer will provide enough days for integration in the scheme, chemistry with teammates, and adaptation to the roles that the coaching staff will lay out. That means, the sooner, the better for Barcelona — especially since documents, league registration, and possible wage balance adjustments to comply with La Liga regulation are also part of the consideration. However, the move remains just a rumor and should not be mistaken for finality. Complex negotiations are common at these transfer levels, including fee structures, add-ons, and the player's long-term plans with his current club. As long as there is no confirmation, the situation remains to be watched in the coming days, especially as Barcelona are pushing the clock to run in their favor before the target deadline. For supporters, Álvarez's potential arrival would bring a new dimension to Barcelona's offense — a hard-working, effective and versatile attacker who could propel the team to match the best in Spain and Europe. For now, the most important thing is whether the club can close the negotiations on the deadline the coach wants, and how this will affect Barcelona's overall plan for the new season.

What's next

Barcelona are expected to continue their negotiations with Julián Álvarez in the coming weeks, with the aim of closing the deal before August 12. If they succeed in signing him, fans could see a more strengthened attack from Barcelona in their La Liga campaign. Álvarez's entry could also provide a new dynamic to their midfield, which is essential to their attacking strategy and creating chances.
