Cucurella hopes to bring Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid after his move from Chelsea
Marc Cucurella has expressed hope that Enzo Fernandez will be reunited with Real Madrid this summer, following growing speculation over the Argentine midfielder's future at Chelsea.
Marc Cucurella, Real Madrid's new recruit from Chelsea, hopes that friend Enzo Fernandez can follow him to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. Fernandez's name appeared in Madrid's line-up of targets after Cucurella's successful campaign, which cost him up to €60 million (₤51.8 million), even before the start of the 2026 World Cup in North America.
Cucurella is among three formal arrivals in Madrid, alongside Ibrahima Konate (from Liverpool) and Bernardo Silva (from Manchester City) who signed for free. Apart from the new players, Jose Mourinho also returns as coach for 2026-27. But Fernandez's possible arrival is the most anticipated, with Chelsea reportedly offering an initial fee of ₤120 million. According to reports, Fernandez has been linked to Real Madrid since April after expressing interest himself, which is why he was temporarily removed from the line-up by then-coach Liam Rosenior.

According to Cucurella, "He is a great player and a good friend of mine. He congratulated me on my move and I hope it goes well with him. I will be happy if that happens. We had a good partnership at Chelsea, and if it happens here at Real Madrid it will be a big thing."
Fernandez joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for a fee of ₤106 million (€121 million). Since then, he has been an integral part of the team and has 31 goals and 29 assists in 169 games for the Blues—including the Conference League and Club World Cup titles under Enzo Maresca. In the 2025-26 season alone, Fernandez contributed 16 goals and 10 assists to Chelsea in a total of 61 matches.
As Chelsea prepare under new coach Xabi Alonso—who replaced Calum McFarlane and former coach Liam Rosenior this May—the defense is also expected to be bolstered by the arrival of Italian defender Marco Palestra from Atalanta for over ₤43 million. Meanwhile, Chelsea have put a ₤75 million price tag on full-back Malo Gusto who is another of those who could leave this summer.
