Denis Glushakov, former midfielder of Spartak Moscow and the Russian national team, shared that he is ready to consider selling Lionel Messi's match-worn jersey if someone offers 50 million rubles. In a podcast titled "German El Clasico," Glushakov admitted he was only "gauging" market interest when the possibility of selling the rare piece of memorabilia was mentioned. According to Glushakov, there were people who sent him a message willing to pay 6–8 million rubles for the jersey, but he insisted that it was not an ordinary retail item. "It's straight from the game," insisted the Russian, noting that he and Messi exchanged jerseys and even hugged between matches. He even jokingly referred to the Argentine superstar as "bratik" or like a younger brother, proof of how important that moment was to him. The said jersey is from the friendly match between Russia and Argentina in Moscow in 2017, where the visitors prevailed, 1-0. At halftime of such a game, the jersey exchange took place, something that further adds to the value and authenticity of the piece. For Glushakov, the story behind the jersey—the very game against one of the greatest players in history—is why collectors hold it in such high regard.

Currently, Lionel Messi is still at the forefront of global popularity as the star of Inter Miami and captain of Argentina. In the world of football memorabilia, match-worn gear—especially from stars like Messi—is generally prized not just for its rare presence, but for its documented provenance and match story. When an item is acquired directly from an exchange between players on the field, as was the case with Glushakov and Messi, its authenticity carries double the weight for serious collectors. Glushakov also clarified that his mention of a possible sale was more of a market measurement. "I was motivated just to see the price," he said, adding that 50 million rubles is the level he can now consider. Despite this, it's clear that the jersey remains special to him because of the personal connection it carries—a memory tied to the match, the hug, and the very exchange he and Messi took center stage. As interest in Messi-connected pieces continues to grow, the jersey remains in Glushakov's hands—unless, he says, an offer comes in that reaches a level he's willing to make a decision on. For followers and collectors, it's a reminder of just how powerful Messi's name is and how moments within 90 minutes turn into treasures of lasting value.

What's next

If Glushakov finds the right offer for the jersey, it could open up a wider discourse on the value of football memorabilia. Collectors and fans may be more interested in such items, bringing higher demand to pieces of game history. On the other hand, Messi's continued success at Inter Miami could further increase the value of his memorabilia in the future.
