Davide Frattesi has arrived in Rome this evening to undergo a medical with Lazio, a step towards an expected loan transfer from Inter. According to the report, the agreement is a loan worth €5 million with an option to buy of €10 million; part of the deal is a 50 percent sell-on fee that will remain for Inter. The original terms were reformulated after financial and registration problems arose. Previously, what was agreed was a loan of €1m with an obligation to buy €14m plus 50% of the future of the player to be sold. But as the obligation on Lazio's paper was too heavy without sales first, a new structure was set: a higher loan fee of €5m and an option to buy for €10m. Inter's hold on 50% of the sell-on means Frattesi's market value remains around €30m — a figure previously claimed as the asking price for interested parties such as Nottingham Forest, Juventus and others. While the documents have not been officially signed, Lazio are clearly serious about closing the deal and bringing the Italy international back to the capitol.

Frattesi, who first came through Lazio's academy before moving to sister team Roma in 2014, progressed at Sassuolo and was eventually sold to Inter in 2023 for more than €30m including bonuses. The player is about to turn 27, and although he has admitted at the time that he is a Roma supporter, he still received a warm welcome from Lazio supporters when he arrived and even posed with a Biancocelesti scarf. Lazio's official social media also posted a message that signaled the end of the wait: "The wait is over. Davide is here." This caption showed reassurance in the fan camp as they await the official announcement from both club and player. Frattesi's move reflects the complex dynamics of the modern transfer market—having immediate funds in the form of higher loan fees to reduce risk on the buyer's side, while the seller preserves potential long-term income through a sell-on clause. For Lazio, signing Frattesi is a strong signal of ambition as they approach the new stage of their Serie A campaign. Pending the official signing and announcement, fans and journalists alike will be eagerly anticipating the next steps — from confirmation of medical results to Frattesi's league registration and possible first appearance for the new team.

What's next

It is expected that once Frattesi's medical is over, the documents will be formally signed to complete the transfer. Lazio have an option to buy worth €10 million, giving them the chance to sign the midfielder permanently in the future. Inter, on the other hand, will stick to the 50% sell-on fee, showing their continued interest in Frattesi's player development in the transfer market.
