Fiorentina rejected Nottingham Forest's €7M offer

By Sports.

Context

Dodo moved to Fiorentina from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022 and has a contract that expires next summer. His performance in Serie A football is constantly monitored, and possible transfers could affect his career and future player development under the leadership of Fiorentina.

Why it matters

Fiorentina's rejection of a €7M offer from Nottingham Forest shows their determination to get the right price for Dodo, a key part of their defence. Despite his poor performance in the previous match, the 27-year-old Brazilian is considered to have more potential in his development as a player, which could be beneficial to any Serie A club that could acquire him.

A report from Sky Sport Italia, shared by TuttoMercatoWeb, has revealed that Fiorentina have rejected a €7 million offer from Nottingham Forest for Brazilian right back Dodo. The Viola consider the amount presented to be low and the club is set to at least €10 million before considering the progress of talks. According to the same report, Nottingham Forest submitted a formal bid on Wednesday but if the English team want to secure Dodo's services, they will need to raise their offer. Any deal is expected to be a permanent transfer as Dodo's contract with Fiorentina expires next summer. Dodo, 27 years old, moved to Fiorentina from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2022. In the current transfer window, he is among the list of players Fiorentina are considering for release, along with Nicolo Fagioli, Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian. However, according to the report, the Viola has received very few concrete offers for the aforementioned.

On the playing side, Dodo started in Fiorentina's 4-0 loss against Roma on Monday, a night that was considered difficult for the visitors and resulted in low ratings for their players. It was also mentioned that coach Fabio Grosso moved Franco Mastantuono into the middle to add stability at the back, a decision the coach himself admitted he may regret. Fiorentina's desire to demand at least €10 million serves as a clear signal that they consider Dodo to be worth something and do not want to simply pass up the potential income from his departure. For Nottingham Forest, raising the offer would be an important step if they intend to strengthen the right side of the defense before the transfer window closes. The market will remain focused over the next few days on whether Nottingham Forest will raise their offer or if another team will come even closer. Currently, Fiorentina's official position is clear: €7M is not enough — a higher amount is needed or Dodo will continue to be part of the Viola's plan until the end of his contract.

What's next

If Nottingham Forest want to sign Dodo, they will need to raise their offer to at least €10M, according to reports. In the current summer transfer window, negotiations could progress if Fiorentina find more concrete offers for other players such as Nicolo Fagioli and Marco Brescianini, which could also affect their decision on transfers.
