Ivan Provedel's day at Inter. The veteran goalkeeper from Lazio is undergoing the first part of a medical, which is due to be completed in the afternoon, as a final step before signing his contract with the Nerazzurri side. This is expected to signal his move from Roma to Milano, with Inter packing additional security at the goalkeeper position for a long season in Italy and Europe. According to the details of the agreement, Provedel will sign a contract until 2029 which is estimated to be worth around €1.5 million per year. On the Lazio side, the total amount received as a transfer fee will reach €3 million. Provedel will enter Cristian Chivu's team as the second goalkeeper behind first-choice Josep Martinez—a clear statement from Inter that it does not want to jeopardize a position at the back when the schedule tightens. This is an important step in Inter's roster management. In the current state of modern football, a reliable second goalkeeper carries the same weight as a regular starter—especially with the packed calendar of Serie A and European matches. Behind it all is Inter's aim to maintain quality and composure in defence, regardless of personnel rotation or even the possibility of mid-season injury and suspension.

For Provedel, this new chapter is an opportunity to bring his experience and presence to a camp that has the ambition to remain competitive at the highest level. Known for his tenacity in the air and calm reading of the game, his profile is expected to match the demands of Chivu's system—pragmatic, disciplined, and good at defensive organization. On the back of his experience from Lazio, he will bring to Appiano Gentile a skill set that can be used at times when Inter need an immediate solution under the post. Throughout the operation, the timeline remains clear: Provedel will complete a full medical evaluation this afternoon before formally signing the contract. There is no indication of any complications in the process, and the next administrative steps are also lined up once all the paperwork is signed. Once it's official, Chivu will have an additional piece in his rotation—an experienced and reliable goaltender ready to back up Martinez and step in when the opportunity calls. At this point, Inter and their supporters are just waiting for a formal announcement. But the direction is clear: with the arrival of Ivan Provedel, the Nerazzurri's defense will go even deeper next campaign—a practical and calculated move that responds to the reality of intense competition in Italy and on the continent.

What's next

Following a medical, Provedel is expected to sign a contract that will last until 2029, giving him the chance to develop under the leadership of Cristian Chivu. His arrival could have a positive impact on Inter's player development, as they prepare for the challenges of next season. Inter will continue to be active in the summer transfer window to improve their lineup.
