Inter plans for 2026-27: Bastoni right to stay—Provedel close to signing

Activity in Milan is not letting up as Inter are busy building their squad for the 2026-27 season. While others are busy on vacation or heading to the World Cup, the leadership is serious about planning.

In attack, the chances of big changes are low: Lautaro, Thuram, Esposito, and Bonny are still anchored for the frontline. Coach Chivu could potentially add a fifth player for a wider rotation, but the summer transfer window is just beginning.

In the midfield, the name of Curtis Jones is still dominant—although the next developments are still awaited, while the importance of Manu Koné is gradually decreasing in the list of targets. Atta and Aleksandar Stankovic are also open amid continuing talks between Inter and Udinese. Inter are also determined to keep Calhanoglu despite speculation. Mkhitaryan, on the other hand, renewed for one more year with the Nerazzurri, a decision supported by coach Chivu.

For the defense, Acerbi is sure to leave as his contract is up. There is interest from Monza, Genoa, and clubs from Saudi Arabia. The possibility of Bisseck's departure is still open, but it would have to be met with a very good offer. Meanwhile, Inter have clearly kept Alessandro Bastoni. Although there have been rumors about him possibly moving to another top club, his agent has confirmed that he has a contract and intends to stay at Inter.

In terms of the goalkeeper, although "Pepo" Martinez seems to be the almost certain starter, Ivan Provedel's agent from Lazio is also rumored to have visited Milan. A three-year contract worth more than 1.5 million euros per year has been agreed upon. Inter just needs to finish negotiations to persuade Lazio to release Provedel.

All in all, Inter are already active in building the foundation of their new team. Although this is just the beginning, it is clear that the leadership has a direction and a plan for the Nerazzurri to remain competitive come the 2026-27 season.
