The draw for the second round of the 2026-27 Carabao Cup (also known as the EFL Cup) is scheduled to take place on Monday, 10 August, at approximately 19:20 BST. According to the schedule, 11 Premier League teams will join the 35 winning teams from the first round of the English Football League. Premier League teams entered into the draw are Brentford, Chelsea, Fulham, Newcastle United, Everton, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City. These teams will be joined by the first-round winners to form the competitive fixtures of the second round. The draw will be drawn live on Sky Sports and will take place before the final first-round tie, the Devon derby between League One side Plymouth Argyle and their League Two rivals Exeter City. Such a derby is one of the most anticipated local matches in the opening phase of the tournament and serves as a good prelude before the full second round schedule is revealed.

As was the set-up in the first two rounds, the second round draw is regionalized—split into northern and southern sections—to minimize travel and encourage local rivalries. Regionalization often brings more derbies and shorter trips for lower league teams, which also provide more opportunities for upsets when they face higher-ranked opponents. The second round itself is scheduled to be played in the week commencing Monday, 24 August. For the smaller teams, the Carabao Cup often becomes a platform for making a big profit out of the gate and building momentum at the start of the season. As for Premier League squads, they often rotate their lineup to give time to the backups and study the depth of their roster before entering the tougher league matches. As the draw approaches, keep an eye out for the full results and schedule of next week's matches. The Carabao Cup will remain an important part of the English football calendar — it brings together teams from different levels and provides an opportunity for unexpected stories in cup football.
