Klose responded as Messi reached his World Cup goals record
Former Germany player Miroslav Klose made the comments after Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick against Algeria to take his tally to 16 goals — equaling Klose's previous World Cup record.
MiГroslav Klose, the former forward of the German national team, reacted after it was confirmed that Lionel Messi had reached his record number of goals in the FIFA World Cup.
Prior to Klose's statement, Messi scored a hat-trick in Argentina's 3:0 win over Algeria — bringing his total World Cup goals to 16. This number was a long-standing record previously held by Klose.

Records are made to be broken, and I will be happy if he can do that. I have always been a big fan of Messi: he is a genius," said Miroslav Klose, as reported by Ole.
In the current record, next to Messi and Klose is the famous Brazilian Ronaldo with 15 goals. Meanwhile, German legend Gerd Müller and current France striker Kylian Mbappé have 14 goals each.
This event added a new chapter to the history of the World Cup and once again demonstrated Messi's prowess on football's biggest stage. For Klose, he clearly welcomes the record change and insists on recognizing the Argentinian's talent.
