Lazio: Gattuso picks Brescianini as main target; si

According to Tuttomercatoweb.

Context

Marco Brescianini is a promising central player known for his ability to coordinate attacks and his defensive work rate. His move to Lazio could give new life to their midfield, which is vital for their Serie A ambitions. Giovanni Fabbian, as an alternative, is also a promising talent who could provide additional depth to Lazio's squad.

Why it matters

Gennaro Gattuso's selection of Marco Brescianini as his main target shows Lazio's need for a more creative and disciplined central player. This type of player is important to their system, especially in their aim to achieve a higher position in Serie A. Brescianini's ability to connect with the attackers and help the defense could have a big match impact in their next matches.

Key Points

  • Lazio: Gattuso picks Brescianini as main target; si.
  • Lazio looking for a creative central player for Gennaro Gattuso's system.
  • Lazio, Gattuso chose Brescianini. Fabbian resta l'alternative.
Lazio continue to move in the market as they search for the exact piece in the middle to pass on to Gennaro Gattuso. According to Il Messaggero, only two names remain on the list of targets for the central attacking player position: Marco Brescianini is the main option, while Giovanni Fabbian is ready to join if the first plan does not work out. The club had previously identified youngster Luka Stojkovic as a first target, but Dinamo Zagreb's high asking price stood in the way. Meanwhile, another possibility has completely disappeared from the radar after Asp Jensen moved to Deportivo La Coruña for a fee considered affordable. Despite this, Lazio's need remains clear: a dynamic and disciplined creator in the middle who can move in behind the attackers and also help the defense without the ball.

This is where the intense interest in Brescianini comes into play. The former Frosinone midfielder is known for his aggressive entry into the box, height and strength in duels, and his willingness to return to respond to the opponent's pressing and blocking. In Gattuso's view, this profile fits the system he wants to build at Formello—a central player who not only lives on the last pass, but also works behind the ball. Alternatively, there is Fabbian who is also highly rated for his ability to attack in space and find chances in front of goal. Both are expected to be available on loan from Fiorentina—a solution compatible with Lazio's current budget considerations. However, despite Gattuso's clear preference, the discussion for Brescianini has not yet progressed to a "decisive" stage. It may be necessary to release some of the current team members to ease the roster and salary before negotiations formally begin. In the bigger picture, this center position may dictate how quickly Gattuso can translate his principles into offense and defense—quick transitions, high intensity, and collective pressing. If Lazio succeed in securing one of the two targets, there is a good chance of filling the hole in creativity and running from the second line that they have been putting off solving. For now, the eyes are focused on Rome while waiting for when the biancocelesti will take the final step to bring the desired "number 10" to Formello with strength and sacrifice.

What's next

Lazio are expected to continue their search for a central player who fits Gattuso's system. If Brescianini is not available, Giovanni Fabbian is set to be the alternative, who has his own abilities to improve Lazio's season outlook. These decisions could change their strategy in Serie A as the next part of the season approaches.
