"Very good..." - Matheus Cunha, Expresses Desire for Manchester United Next Season
Matheus Cunha has revealed his plans and ambitions for Manchester United in the coming season, as he competes for Brazil at the World Cup.
Matheus Cunha had a successful debut season at Manchester United following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2025. His United career is expected to go well, especially given his impressive performance last season at Old Trafford. He tallied 10 goals and two assists, a solid contribution especially considering United only played two games in cup competitions all year.
Currently, Cunha is focused on his World Cup campaign with Brazil. He was first used as a substitute in their match against Morocco, where his game drew attention, but the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

He was asked about possibly claiming the title next year. "At the end of last season, the results were good and we showed that we can keep up with the top teams. Because of this, we got the place to the Champions League," said Cunha. "We know this club has a big name and should be up there. If everyone works together, we can bring Manchester United back to success."
United's 2026/27 campaign will also be historic as it will feature in the Amazon 'All or Nothing' documentary, which former coach Ruben Amorim did not consent to at the time. As they return to the Champions League, Michael Carrick and his troops face the challenge of focusing on the league and Europe at the same time. Although United are not considered favorites, Cunha knows that knockout football is unpredictable—as seen in the World Cup.
He was asked if a fourth Champions League title could be open for them, but Cunha did not give a direct answer. "We will continue to work hard for the club and the fans. We want to make next season a season of success," the Brazilian insisted.
