Why it matters

Napoli's interest in Kepa Arrizabalaga shows their desire to strengthen their squad for the coming season. • Napoli are once again targeting the Premier League market and Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is among the names being brought back to the table, according to a report from Italy.
• Napoli, Manna a caccia di occasioni in Premier. Per la porta proposto nouveauto Kepa.

Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is being linked with Napoli again as the club continue to look for Premier League opportunities under sporting director Giovanni Manna, according to a report from Italy. The Partenopei aim to increase competition at the goalkeeper position, and Kepa is among the names that have been "offered" to the team again as a possible solution under the new management cycle. Kepa is known for his experience in both Spain and England. He played for Chelsea and was last on loan at Real Madrid in the 2023–24 season, so he is familiar with the tension of big matches and the style of play demanded of the modern goalkeeper — particularly comfort on the ball and quick distribution from the back. These qualities are what many clubs see as important, especially if they want to build a more aggressive build-up and a higher defensive line.

On Napoli's side, the management's priority remains to ensure there is enough depth and competition in the goalkeeper position. In this context, it is logical for them to check the market in England where there are many experienced goalkeepers who can be acquired in the right condition. Looking at the Premier League also aligns with the league's reputation as having a high level of competition and a wide pool of players ready to break into top-level European football immediately. However, it is important to mention that right now the matter is still at the level of communication and analysis. There was no mention of a formal offer or concrete negotiations for Kepa. As with the usual market moves, clubs may consider different deal structures — such as a loan with an option — depending on the player's situation and the team's needs. Above all, the sporting and financial aspects need to be aligned before any talks can move forward. For Napoli, targeting Premier League opportunities under Giovanni Manna is an indication that they are ready to be prudent and more aggressive in the market. If the interest continues and there is room for a deal, Kepa could add much-needed experience at the back, something that could help the team in their ambition to return to the top of the competition in Italy and in Europe. For now, it will remain a link from Italy, but it is a sign that Napoli are active in finding the right piece for their squad before the transfer window closes.

What's next

Napoli are expected to continue to scour the Premier League market for potential transfers, including other goalkeepers who could provide additional depth to their squad. Transfer decisions could affect Napoli's season outlook, especially if they get players capable of adjusting to the Serie A style of football. The next few weeks will be crucial for Napoli management as they plan their roster for next season.
