After a successful trial in Nijmegen, Emre Mor has convinced the NEC and has a two-year contract on the horizon. The 28-year-old winger has already played in preseason matches against De Treffers and MSV Duisburg.

NEC convinced of Emre Mor; two-year contract ready

Emre Mor is ready to give a new phase in his career. It is confirmed that the 28-year-old winger convinced the NEC management and coach Dick Schreuder during the trial held in Nijmegen. According to club signals, a two-year contract is in place for the Turkish international, and the next step is expected to be easy if the final details are settled. Mor arrived in the Netherlands as a free agent after his contract with Fenerbahçe expired. Last season, he didn't play even one minute and wasn't even included in the matchday squad, part of his problem with injuries. He was also not registered for the second part of the campaign, causing the player's side to part ways with the giant Turkish club. Despite a lackluster last year, Mor remains known as a former top prospect in Europe. Born and shaped in Denmark, he is a product of FC Nordsjaelland's youth system. After only 13 games in the first team, Borussia Dortmund moved quickly in 2016 and acquired him in a transfer that almost reached ten million euros. A year later, Dortmund sold him to Celta de Vigo for an estimated three million euro profit.

His potential never caught on in Spain and in the following years Mor went through several loan spells. In 2022, he moved to Turkey and was later bought by Fenerbahçe. However, he played a very limited role there, until completely missing a game for the entirety of last season. Arriving at the NEC, the winger seems to have renewed energy. He has taken part in preseason friendlies, including matches against De Treffers and MSV Duisburg, where he showed off his pace and ability to handle the ball—traits that made him stand out as a youth. Under coach Dick Schreuder, he is expected to be given a clear system and role, something he has long sought in recent years. For NEC, the two-year offer could be a low-risk, high-upside move. If Mor can return to the form that brought him to Dortmund and Celta, he could be an x-factor in the Nijmegen side's attack in the upcoming Eredivisie campaign. More importantly, he will add depth and creativity in wide areas—a need often overlooked in the modern game.
