Egypt's trip ended with a 3-2 loss against Argentina in Atlanta, with Enzo Fernández's goal setting the final score. Amidst the frustration, the Egyptian Federation filed an official letter demanding the removal of French referee François Letexier and his assistants. The federation expressed its displeasure with decisions that affected the match—including the disallowance of Zico's second goal and the failure to call a possible foul inside the mill on Mohamed Salah—which, according to the EFA, influenced the course of the game before the Albiceleste prevailed. All in all, Egyptian officials still call this edition their best campaign in history. Under Hassan, the team has achieved consistency and confidence—ingredients it will want to strengthen as the 2026 World Cup draws closer to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Hassan's continued tenure is expected to bring stability to the roster, refining the strategy, and cultivating the team's core around key players such as Salah. While the bitterness of Argentina's fallout remains fresh, the Egyptian Federation's message is clear: continue what was started. With the signing of the new agreement, Egypt have a clear direction for 2026—full support of the coach who has taken them to new heights and laid the foundation for the next chapter of their history in international football.
