His ability to play in different positions will allow the coach to have more tactical options.

Savoia has made clear its ambition to move up to the professional level after officially announcing the signing of Mario Noce from Livorno. The club have confirmed that the 1999-born defender has signed a two-year contract, a direct transfer expected to bolster their defense on their return to Serie C as a newly-promoted team. Noce is coming off a solid campaign with Livorno, where he made 32 appearances and 2 goals last season in Serie C. Known for his versatility at the back, he can operate as a central defender or right full-back—an attribute essential for teams that need to adapt to a higher level of competition. As Savoia enter this new phase, Noce provides experience at the Serie C level and added depth for the coach to select formations and personnel. In their official statement, Savoia 1908 FC confirmed that they have acquired Noce from Livorno on a permanent deal and signed it for two years. This shows that the club is not just looking for a short-term solution; it is clear that they plan to include Noce in the medium-term project of their promotion and staying in the league.

For Livorno, this meant the departure of a regular piece at the back from the previous campaign. For Savoia, however, it is a strategic move to meet the expected challenge of higher-quality opposition in Serie C. With the volume of matches and tight league schedule, having a defender who can operate in different positions at the back provides flexibility—Noce can be used in the traditional back-four as a center or right, or in a wing-back role as needed. Noce's role is not just defense; his two goals last season are also an indication that he can contribute in set pieces and in situations that require a presence from the back. In the new environment at Savoia, he will be expected to continue the solid form shown at Livorno—discipline on the mark, good reading of the game, and enough speed to deal with the opposition's wingers. As the new season approaches, the signing of Noce is a clear statement that Savoia are serious about their preparations. In building a roster that can keep up with the testing tempo of Serie C, the experience the 24-year-old defender (born in 1999) brings will be a key part of the foundation of their campaign. How he immediately integrates into the new teammates and system remains to be seen, but for now, the two-year deal provides certainty and continuity at the Savoia backline.

What's next

Noce is expected to be a key part of Savoia as they claim a new stage in Serie C. His arrival could have a positive impact on their next matches, as the club sets goals for their league stay. On the other hand, Livorno will have to find a replacement for a regular player who left their defense.
