Corvino's departure, talk with the sports director and Di Francesco: Lecce's future plan
Rapid change at Lecce after Pantaleo Corvino resigned; the club's strategy needs to change and there is a clear decision to be made regarding sports director and coach Eusebio Di Francesco.
Pantaleo Corvino announced his resignation from the position as responsible of Lecce's area tecnica after a press conference yesterday morning. According to a club statement, fatigue from previous seasons prompted his decision, which came days after Lecce secured their fourth consecutive Serie A safety.
Corvino's departure left a huge gap in the team's operation and forced the management led by president Saverio Sticchi Damiani to redraw the long-term strategy. It is an open question who will handle the responsibility of the technical area and how the next step will be arranged with the limitations and needs of the squad.

Some sectors consider that the confirmation of Trinchera at this time would show the club's desire to continue with the project previously led by Corvino. If confirmed, he will also have the large task of building and overseeing the roster for next season; however, his position will also be subject to decisions to be made within the next few hours.
At the same time, the future of coach Eusebio Di Francesco continues to be at the center of discussion. Although his contract was automatically renewed after securing safety on the last day of the campaign, it does not mean he will definitely stay at Lecce. Talks swirled of his possible departure, and Bologna's interest in the coach was reportedly cut short. According to the news, the club will first review the leadership position before finally deciding on the future of the coaching staff.
All in all, Lecce are in a period of change: they have lost a central official, the fate of the sports director and the coach are pending, and the supporters are waiting for a clear step from the management. The directions will be clear once the next formal announcement from the president and new club structure is made.
