Brentford have signed full-back Michael Kayode to a new six-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, as a reward for his progress and prowess with long throws.
Brentford have handed Michael Kayode a new six-year contract, with the option of a further year, in recognition of his rapid development and huge contribution to the team. Kayode arrived at the Bees in January 2025 from Fiorentina on loan and has since played 56 times for the club in all competitions.
Kayode is known as one of the Premier League's most ruthless when it comes to long throws, and was a big part of the team's impressive finish last season when they finished in ninth place — narrowly missing out on European competition on goal difference.
Capped at under-21 level for Italy, Kayode featured in almost every league fixture against Brentford last campaign, playing in all but one. From set-pieces, he created 16 chances — one of only ten players to create more, with Bruno Fernandes leading the chance tally from dead balls.

Coach Keith Andrews praised him: "Michael had a great season last year. He shows all the good things we do. His development and evolution is very impressive. Michael makes our daily training sessions fun with his positive attitude—he really deserves this new contract."
Kayode's new deal furthers Brentford's long-term plan to retain youngsters with potential while bolstering their defense and alternative attacking options from set-pieces. He will remain one of the keys to the team as the Bees prepare for the next Premier League season.
