Real Betis are moving in the market after contacting Benfica to ascertain the situation of Croatian forward Franco Ivanovic. According to Italian journalist Lorenzo Lepore, it has even reached the point where Betis have requested a loan deal with an option to buy for the player. Adding to the matter, Ivanovic will not be continuing with the Lisbon club, so the door is open for a possible transfer. Betis are not the only ones in the queue: Galatasaray, who are known to be active in acquiring Turkish attacks, are also said to be interested. For Betis, this type of deal—loan with an option to buy—is a practical route to assess a player's fit into the team's system before committing to a permanent transfer. Usually, the negotiation process goes like this: the parties will set a loan fee, salary, and a fixed amount at which the transaction can be made permanent after a certain period of time. In Ivanovic's case, the only clarity so far is the interest of Betis and the fact that he will no longer be staying at Benfica—signs that could speed up the paperwork in the coming days.

On the other hand, Galatasaray—a traditional contender in Turkey—provides an extra complication in the race for the Croatian forward's signature. When there are two clubs competing, the team's project, playing time, and the direction of the player's career become more important. Each team's position and needs up front can also be a factor to ensure any newcomer gets enough minutes. For Benfica, the decision not to continue with Ivanovic indicates that the Portuguese camp is ready to open the door for negotiations. In this context, the player benefits because there are more routes to choose from—from La Liga in Spain, to Süper Lig in Turkey—which both provide a high level of competition and a stage for immediate impact. While no deal has been finalised, the direction is clear: Betis are the first to move to try to push through the loan with an option to buy, and Galatasaray are not far behind to match or counter depending on salary talks, deal structure and playing time. At the moment, the two camps are focused on shaping the details, and it is expected that the pace of the talks will be fast especially since it is confirmed that the player will no longer stay in Lisbon. When interest, strategy, and the right price tag converge, expect the next chapter in Franco Ivanovic's possible move.

What's next

Negotiations between Real Betis and Benfica are expected to continue, where the details of a loan deal with an option to buy could be speeded up. Galatasaray, who are also contenders, bring an additional challenge to the situation, which could cause increased competition for Ivanovic's signature. The next few days will be important to see which team gets the favor of the Croatian forward.
