Real Madrid appear to be edging closer to landing one of Europe's most promising young forwards after Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the race for RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande. According to a report by The Athletic, the Spanish giants and the Bundesliga club are expected to reach an agreement for the transfer of the 19-year-old striker. Diomande first expressed interest in PSG, but the French club did not agree to meet the large demands of salary and transfer fees demanded by Leipzig. PSG did not go along with the negotiations, which opened up an opportunity for Real Madrid. Currently, Real Madrid have sent an offer to Leipzig twice. The German club initially rejected them, but the Spanish side responded with a second offer of €120 million. Although it is also expected that this latest proposal may still be rejected, both sides strongly believe that a compromise will be reached before the end of the transfer window.

Yan Diomande won praise in his debut season in Germany in 2025 after registering 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 games for Leipzig in all competitions. His skill has also not escaped the attention of big English clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester City, and Arsenal, but Real Madrid has been the most aggressive in pursuing him. Not only did Diomande shine in club football but also on the international stage. He was a key player for Ivory Coast at the last FIFA World Cup, starting all four matches for his country and impressing on football's biggest stage. Real Madrid's determination to strengthen their attacking line has intensified due to Franco Mastantuono's struggles in his first season and Brahim Diaz's desire to find more playing time. Diomande will soon be the key to Real's new generation, thanks to his speed, agility, dribbling ability, and versatility in front of goal. If the two teams finally reach an agreement, another important youngster will join the ranks of Real Madrid's galactics before the start of the new season.

What's next

Negotiations between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are expected to continue to reach an agreement for Diomande before the end of the summer transfer window. While Madrid seem willing to make a higher offer, Leipzig may still reject their latest proposal. However, there is confidence on both sides that a compromise will be reached soon, which would allow the young striker's move to La Liga.
