Real Madrid Clarifies No Plans To Get Enzo Fernandez From Chelsea

Real Madrid have strongly denied reports that they intend to sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea this summer. In the official statement of the Spanish giants, they made it clear that they are not taking any steps, direct or indirect, to acquire the Argentine midfielder.

It will be remembered that the matter floated after Chelsea did not enter the European competition this past season. There are reports that Fernandez is interested in finding a new challenge and is open to the possibility of a move to Real Madrid. However, Real emphasized in their statement that any news or allegations of their approach to Fernandez "does not correspond to reality".

According to Chelsea, no official offer has been received from Real Madrid for Fernandez. The club also revealed that although the midfielder is worth an estimated £120m, they are not actively selling him and will still be considered an integral part of the team under new coach Xabi Alonso.

Fernandez, who Chelsea bought from Benfica for a then-record fee of £107m in February 2023, has been at the center of talk since helping Argentina win the 2022 World Cup. He was Chelsea's vice-captain and recorded 15 goals and 7 assists in all competitions last season. The player and his agent have calmed down on the issue of his salary and future, especially after Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League, which is why a possible move has been rumored.

However, Real Madrid have insisted that the speculations are unfounded and have kept their relationship with Chelsea clean. According to them, they appreciate Enzo as a good player and they have respect for both clubs. Real also mentioned that they have already acquired another player from Chelsea this summer, Marc Cucurella, but have no intention of Fernandez.

Despite the doubts, Chelsea remain open to only accepting offers for Fernandez if it suits their valuation, but they would prefer the player to stay. For now, expect Fernandez to be pushed once again by coach Alonso to restore his relationship with the supporters and continue to be integral to the Blues' campaign.
