Jesper Lindstrøm's move to FC Schalke 04 is nearing its final stages, according to consistent reports from Germany and Italy. Reports indicate that negotiations are at an advanced stage and a basic agreement has been reached between the 26-year-old winger and die Königsblauen. Newly promoted Schalke are aiming to bring Lindstrøm back to the Bundesliga after a disappointing season at relegated Wolfsburg. It is said that Napoli wants to sell the Denmark international in order to recover at least part of the estimated €30 million they released when they took him from Frankfurt in 2023. At the moment, there are no confirmed details of how much Schalke will release for the player who has been capped 18 times in Denmark, so the focus will be on the price especially since his market value has dropped significantly in the past year. From being valued at €28 million before he left the Bundesliga, Lindstrøm's value dropped to €18 million when he arrived at Wolfsburg last summer. After an injury-hit season that resulted in just four starting games, plus 11 substitute appearances — including two relegation-playoff appearances against Paderborn — his estimated value now sits at around €4 million. This is almost a 78 percent drop in just one year.

For Schalke, who have just returned to the first division, Lindstrøm's possible arrival could add speed and creativity to the final third — two attributes critical in the fight for league survival. The Dane has long been known for his attacking flanks and ability to cut inside, a skill set that shone through during his successful spell at Eintracht Frankfurt. In fact, his last official goal was against Schalke when he was still in Frankfurt — an interesting twist should he now wear the blue. However, his career has not been straightforward since then. Lindstrøm has struggled through spells at Napoli, Everton, and most recently at Wolfsburg, delaying his expected rise. In this context, Schalke could serve as a fresh start: new system, new environment, and a clear opportunity to get consistent minutes—if the deal can be finalized. There has been no official announcement from the camps involved. Medical examination and formal paperwork will usually follow the advanced agreement before the confirmation is issued. As the opening of the new Bundesliga season approaches, Schalke supporters are looking forward to whether the deal will be closed and how Lindstrøm will fit into the team's plans for their return to the top flight. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update this news when the transfer becomes official or if further details on the value and structure of the deal emerge.

What's next

Negotiations between Schalke 04 and Wolfsburg are expected to continue to finalize Lindstrøm's transfer. Details regarding the price and other terms of the agreement will be the focus of attention in the coming weeks. If the transfer goes through, Lindstrøm could be involved in Schalke's pre-season preparations as they prepare for their Bundesliga campaign.
