Southend United's perfect start to the National League came to an end when they lost in front of their home fans, 1-3 against Kidderminster Harriers. The win for the Harriers came after a match full of momentum swings and three different periods of scoring. The score opened for Southend when Leon Chambers-Parillon and Kyle McAdam found the net. In the 10th minute, Leon Chambers-Parillon slotted the ball into the middle after a good cutback from Kyle McAdam, giving the Shrimpers an early lead and extending their perfect three-win record from the start of the campaign. But the game changed in the second half. By the 60th minute, Kidderminster hit back when Ben Crompton's shot at goal deflected into Southend's Darren Oldaker's own net. This own-goal restored hope for the visitors and allowed for a more aggressive Harriers attack.

This incident proved that Southend's early lead was not enough and the Harriers regained control of the game in the latter half. The visitors drew a clear finish when Callum Stewart scored in stoppage time — a fine finish that cemented the result and wrapped up three points for Kidderminster. This last goal made it a comprehensive 3-1 for the visitors and ended the Shrimpers' hopes of continuing their strong start. For Southend, it was a huge blow as their perfect record was broken; for Kidderminster, bringing home three points is crucial to their campaign. The change from home first to visiting home shows the agility and determination of the Harriers to rise to the challenge.
