The chapter is over: Illan Meslier is leaving Leeds after six seasons

Illan Meslier's six seasons at Leeds United have come to an end. The club announced that the French goalkeeper will leave at the end of his contract, ending a period full of important contributions for the Whites.
Meslier arrived at Elland Road in August 2019 on loan from Lorient and immediately won the team's trust. He registered his first game for the first team in January 2020 in the FA Cup against Arsenal, and shortly afterwards he also made his league debut against Hull City.
Throughout his time at Leeds, Meslier made 215 official appearances and kept 72 clean sheets. He played a big part in the club's promotion back to the Premier League, including the 2019/20 campaign where he was decisive in the latter part of the season — he started 10 of the last 11 games and conceded just five goals in that period.

Some of Meslier's individual awards are the Championship Golden Glove in 2023/24 and inclusion in the team of the year in the said category. In the campaign that returned Leeds to the Premier League, he kept 21 clean sheets in 39 games and was part of the team that reached 100 league points.
In an official statement, Leeds United thanked Meslier for his professionalism and dedication, and emphasized that he will remain a part of the club's history. According to the report, there are offers waiting for him as he prepares for a new career challenge.
