After playing the full 90 minutes in the second Group G match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 that ended 0-0 against Iran, Thibaut Courtois has reached 17 World Cup appearances—equaling legend Enzo Scifo for Belgium.

Thibaut Courtois equaled Belgium's national record for most World Cup appearances after a 0-0 draw against Iran in the second match of Group G of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The 34-year-old goalkeeper finished the full 90 minutes to reach a total of 17 matches in FIFA's biggest tournament.

According to FIFA's official website, Courtois' number of games in the World Cup has reached 17, making him equal with Red Devils legend Enzo Scifo (17), who served for the national team from 1984 to 1998.

In the World Cup, Courtois also recorded eight matches without conceding a goal. In his total career with the Belgium national team, Courtois has 111 appearances, with 85 goals conceded and 57 clean sheets.
