Players like Oristanio and Mascardi are expected to bring new vitality to the team under his leadership.

Why it matters

Torino's first friendly under Ignazio Abate is important for team building and evaluating new tactics. Despite the limited movement in the transfer market, the performance of young players like Oristanio and Mascardi could indicate the club's future in Serie A football. Victory in such matches can provide confidence and momentum as the new season approaches.

  • Il Torino si svela, primo test per Abate: ecco i granata sotto osservazione.
With the start of a new phase for Torino under the leadership of Coach Ignazio Abate, the team's first friendly is scheduled for this afternoon in conjunction with the eighth day of their pre-season training camp in Pinzolo. It will start at 5:30 pm against the amateur team Pinzolo Valrendena, featured on Dazn and Torino TV for the fans. Although there are many hopeful supporters, Torino has made little move in the players' market. The only official reinforcement is Oristanio, while young goalkeeper Mascardi has also joined, possibly on loan to gain more experience at another team. For now, the big news for the club is the stay of Simeone and Zapata, with Vlasic yet to return from vacation following his World Cup experience. Many are watching how Abate will promote his tactical scheme of 3-4-2-1. In this set-up, Simeone and Zapata are opposite each other and can join forces while Casadei's presence behind them gets stronger as an attacking midfielder. The midfield line consists of Ilkhan, who suffered a minor injury recently, and Gineitis. This lineup also has enough depth as Ilic and Anjorin are there to step up at any time.

In defense and on the flanks, Abate continues to find the right combination. Biraghi, who is only on the fringes of the rotation, acts as the main left back, while Cacciamani is the only option left on the left. On the right side, Pedersen is still waiting for a certain future and is temporarily stacked with other players. With Torino facing off later, Coach Abate's experimentation with the team's young players will be crucial. Among those who will be given attention are Dellavalle who is from Modena, Bianay who was born in 2005, and the young Luongo who just this week started practicing with the first team. The aim of this match is to gauge whether these youngsters are ready to partner with the senior squad and identify what aspects need to be strengthened before official Serie A competition begins. Despite limited new additions to the team, Torino supporters remain optimistic that they will see a fresher and more aggressive Granata under Abate this new season.
