Ivan Zazzaroni, director of Corriere dello Sport, did not hesitate to criticize Claudio Lotito's letter published by Il Messaggero, and described it as "a crude attempt at rapprochement, which failed from the beginning." In his column, Zazzaroni tried to put himself in the shoes of a Lazio supporter after reading Lotito's performance—and even apologized if that attempt was unsuccessful.
Zazzaroni also discussed Lotito's comments about the possibility of an "empty stadium" next season. Lotito says, according to the letter, that he is not afraid: for him Lazio is "an emotion" and he wants to "generate emotion." Lotito added that he does not do things in material terms, that he works with responsibility and without material interest, and that he wants to dream not only for the present but for the future.

But Zazzaroni's reaction was strong: for him, the tone of the letter showed too much isolation and self-centeredness. He points out that Lotito "lives even in a desperate lack of love," and criticizes the repetition of the word "I"—"Io io io"—as a sign of prejudice. According to Zazzaroni, Lotito seems to have stopped really thinking or showing real interest in things beyond his own comfort: "No one who truly has a passion or believes in something that is not his small, cursed, comfortable ordinariness would act like this."
