Brasile Protests FIFA After Vinicius' Goal Against Scotland In World Cup 2026 Is Disallowed
Brazil sent an official protest to FIFA after Vinicius Junior's goal against Scotland was disallowed in the final match of the group stage of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) has lodged a formal protest with FIFA after Vinicius Junior's goal was disallowed in their 3-0 win over Scotland in the final group stage game of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Real Madrid winger would have grabbed an elusive hat-trick after scoring twice in the first half. In the 22nd minute, Vinicius grabbed the ball from Scotland's Jack Hendry near the penalty area and proceeded to slam the ball, but it was disallowed after a VAR review by referee Cesar Arturo Ramos of Mexico called a foul in that incident.
Vinicius Junior was not happy, immediately approached the referee and expressed his frustration: "It's a shame."

CBF president Samir Haoud insists that VAR should only be used when there is a clear and obvious mistake by the officials. The CBF's letter also included a formal request that Ramos not be assigned to the Seleção's next matches in the tournament, especially since his decision had a big impact on the team.
This incident shows Brazil's strong focus on the fair and proper management of VAR and referees in World Cup matches, especially as the Seleção advances to the elimination rounds of the prestigious tournament.
