England rocked the Miami Stadium to claim the third place of the FIFA World Cup 2026, after defeating France, 6-4, in a fast-paced and entertaining encounter that rained goals. Bukayo Saka dominated the English attack, while Kylian Mbappé continued to make history despite Les Bleus' disappointment. Not long into the match, England exploded in the 3rd minute. Declan Rice picked up Désiré Doué's pass in the middle, raced north, and slotted the ball into the deep corner for 1-0. Marcus Rashford almost doubled the advantage but Malo Gusto deflected his shot for a corner. Moments later, Bukayo Saka ran behind the defense and got the ball in, but it was called offside. England doubled their lead in the 18th minute through Ezri Konsa, who bounced a powerful header from Rice's corner and past Mike Maignan. The English continued to march forward and in the 37th minute Saka made it 3-0, calmly heading Rashford's pass into the empty net. Before the break, the Arsenal forward took advantage of Eberechi Eze's through ball and headed into the far corner to make it England's fourth, 4-0, at halftime.

At the opening of the second half, France immediately recovered. Just three minutes had passed when Kylian Mbappé reduced the gap for his ninth goal of the tournament. In the 54th, the Real Madrid star set the clock for Bradley Barcola, who unleashed a powerful shot to make it 4-2. Time later (past the 60th), Mbappé re-entered after exchanging with Michael Olise and carefully placed the ball into the deep corner—and this is where he reached the all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history. Olise had a great chance in the 80th minute but his cross went wide. With four minutes to go, England again pulled away, 5-3, after Saka converted the penalty kick for his third goal of the night. France still didn't give up and soon got another through Ousmane Dembélé, but Jude Bellingham sealed England's win at the last moment with a solo strike to give the sixth and clincher in the frenzy. In the end, England secured third place at the 2026 World Cup with a win that showed resilience and grit in the face of pressure, while France finished fourth despite Mbappé's historic mark. Highlights of the night were Saka's sharpness—who tallied three goals—Rice's early burst, Konsa's header, and Bellingham's finishing agility. For France, the match remained magnificent thanks to the pull of Mbappé and the contribution of Barcola and Dembélé, but fell short at the end against the cruel grip of the English on their advantage.
