Barcelona captain cut short vacation to speed up loan to Ajax

Marc-Andre ter Stegen is showing his determination to fast-track the next chapter of his career after cutting short his summer break and returning to Barcelona early as he eyes a possible loan move to Ajax.

According to Gerard Romero at Jijantes, the German goalkeeper is just awaiting final approval from Barcelona to complete a temporary move to the Dutch giants. It has been reported that the personal terms are in order, so the remaining matter is the reflection of the two clubs to complete the operation.

After more than 12 years at the Camp Nou, it seems that Ter Stegen is about to take on a new challenge at another club. Negotiations have recently progressed: Ajax have submitted a formal proposal, calling for an initial loan agreement rather than a permanent sale.

However, the financial aspect is complicated. There are reports that Ajax can currently only cover a limited portion of Ter Stegen's wages — a wage package that has grown in recent years due to deferred payments agreed when Barcelona ran into financial trouble. Barcelona have acknowledged the offer, but negotiations over the distribution of wages are still unresolved.

For Ter Stegen, after a decade of service at Barcelona, ​​he wants to get a regular game and he believes he can achieve that at Ajax. His position in the team has changed under Hansi Flick: due to the current goalkeeping structure at Barcelona, ​​he has been relegated to the third position, making it difficult for him to get enough minutes in the upcoming campaign.

The situation forced him to look for an alternative, and Ajax turned out to be the favorite destination — not only because of the team project but also because it would allow Michel to be reunited.
